St Albans Hotel0
St Albans Hotel is the closest pub to work, so I’ve frequented this place in the last 3 years or so.
Back in 2011, they had $10 lunch specials which were great value. There were several popular dishes listed for this option including chicken parma, calamari, fish and chips, roast, pie and a few more I can’t remember.
Inflation caught up with us last year 2012 and the lunch special rose to $12.
Now in 2013, the lunch special only encompasses fish and chips, roast and a schnitzel (I think). The specials have disappeared from the menu as options.
I ordered the roast (lamb) of the day because I had just had a chicken parama the night before and didn’t feel like I could stomach one again.
My meal arrived and to my confusion, it was roast pork.
They had forgotten to update the Roast of the Day on the board next to the cashier counter. It was luckily rectified as you can see from the featured image after I pointed it out.
I was a little taken aback that the waitress offered no apologies for the error and instead answered back my saying the board on the other side of the restaurant read ‘pork’.
My colleague ordered the grilled fish, which I had tried before. It was quite nice.
So apart from the rude waitress, the meal was enjoyable. It was certainly more enjoyable coming here in 2011 with the wider lunch specials and larger portion sizes. (Not complaining about the cost of the meals because I understand inflation). I remember friendlier service too…
